Dr. Kim Aikens is a board certified physician with extensive training in Integrative Medicine. She has studied in programs developed by world-renowned doctors Andrew Weil, Jon Kabat-Zinn, and Joseph Goldstein and has received numerous certifications.
Before undergoing fellowship training in Integrative Medicine, Dr. Aikens spent 15 years in private Internal Medicine practice. Looking for ways to help her patients better manage chronic disease as well as pain, Dr. Aikens was struck by the overwhelming literature supporting the efficacy of alternative practices on patient outcomes. As a result, she completed a fellowship in Integrative Medicine, with Dr. Andrew Weil, at the University of Arizona.
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
Inspired by the mind/body aspect of her studies at the University of Arizona, Dr. Aikens continued her education with further training in MBSR at the University of Massachusetts. Due to her interest in bringing both Integrative Medicine and mindfulness solutions to corporate health, she subsequently designed the Aikens Approach. Dr. Aikens also holds an M.B.A. from The Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.
